Artist’s Statement

I work alone in my studio because I need the privacy. I have always retained an internal view, confronting the subconscious the Underland that is home to loss, grief, and pain. This has allowed me to consolidate my gaze on my own experience and my personal needs. Deciding not to work with galleries, for instance, has been additionally beneficial for me. In this way, my handwriting developed naturally, and there will always be a signature on my work. 

Living in Rome, I enjoy working in the urban environment, at a street level, because I can remain in close contact with those outside without interfering. The massive sounds of daily life remain important to me and filter into whatever I feel like making. 

Painting has always been a discipline. I follow it with the honesty that it requires, because it is a work that teaches me, and shows me where to go. 

As we continue to explore and travel into the unknown, death, in my understanding, is not part of life. A certain serenity must prevail for it to preserve its meaning, providing a beacon for life, and the affirmation of its intelligence and beauty.
